Brian ScowcroftBrian Scowcroft is Chairman and owner of Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd, Carlisle. He is independent member of the Cumbria Vision Board for the Infrastructure theme. After gaining a degree in Economics and Social Studies and later Chartered Accountant status he joined the family company, Swinton Insurance in 1981, which he sold ten years later. During that time he also held the post of Finance Director, Joint Chief Executive and then Chief Executive of Mynshul Bank Plc, dealing with Bank of England Regulatory Authority. In 1994 he started his commercial property development portfolio, Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd, specialising in acquiring large empty industrial sites and redeveloping them. Brian is also heavily involved in charity work. He set up Kingmoor Park Charitable Trust in 2002, which together with his own donations, has gifted £1 million to a number of good causes across Cumbria, including research into childhood bone cancer. Brian has also committed a further £2.6 million to creating the Morton Academy, at the site of the Morton School, and the Richard Rose Central Academy, which will be built on the current St Aidan’s County High School site. Outside of his business and charitable ventures Brian’s hobbies include running, swimming, cycling, skiing, sailing, shooting, motorcycling and flying and Manchester United. He also achieved the Guinness World Record for the Five Highest Peaks in UK and Southern Ireland for charity in 2002.
