Melanie Wotherspoon 

Melanie Wotherspoon is a Co-opted member of the Cumbria Vision Board. She is Director - Private Clients and Charities, for Jupiter Asset Management, London.

Melanie was born in Distington in West Cumbria, the fourth generation of her family to live in the village. She followed her grandmother and mother to the village school before winning a scholarship to St Bees School. She graduated from City University with a degree in Systems and Management, where she was sponsored by Rover, and is a Chartered Accountant.

In 2007 Melanie joined Jupiter Asset Management, one of the United Kingdom’s leading fund management groups which manages investments for both private and institutional investors. Prior to that she spent nine years at Baring Asset Management and has also worked for Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, First Chicago NBD, Ernst and Young and HSBC in Hong Kong, San Francisco and Bombay.

A Cumbrian through and through, Melanie enjoys regular trips back to the county where she has fond memories of walking around Loweswater, eating fish and chips on Whitehaven harbour and strolling around antique shops in Cockermouth.

Her hobbies are wide ranging and include walking, football, opera, skiing, travel and antiques. She is married to a "southerner" who is an avid Brighton and Hove Albion fan and lives in Westminster and Surrey.
