Professor John Fyfe 

Professor Fyfe is an international specialist in partnerships and Co-opted member of the Cumbria Vision Board. He is Chair of Cumbria Vision's Strategy Committee.

He has spent a lifetime working on strategic economic development issues with particular reference to employment aspects. His special interest has been in putting the concept and notions of 'Partnership' in practice in a wide range of developing countries and in local communities within the UK affected by decline in traditional industries.

He has been a full time trade union official in the coal mining industry, a former Non Executive Director of British Coal Enterprises, a specialist employment advisor for the British Government and helping many overseas countries with their economic development through setting up of Local Partnerships.

Proff Fyfe has experience in the private sector as both a director and strategic advisor to a number of companies on management and development issues. He is a retired Chairman of West Lakes Research Institute at Whitehaven and holds, or has held, senior academic appointments at Universities and Business Schools, including Manchester, Amsterdam, Henly and Harvard.

Proff Fyfe also serves on the Board of West Lakes Renaissance and is closely involved in developing Britain’s Energy Coast™ vision for West Cumbria and Furness.

He lives in Surrey with his wife and has a son who lives in Cumbria.
